By train

The most popular way to reach Zermatt is by train. From major Swiss cities like Zurich, Geneva, or Bern, you can take direct or connecting trains to Visp, where you’ll change to the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn for the final leg of your journey to Zermatt. The train ride offers stunning views of the Swiss Alps, making the trip an unforgettable experience.

From Zurich Airport: Approximately 3.5 hours (direct trains to Visp, then change for Zermatt).
From Geneva Airport: Approximately 4 hours (via Lausanne and Visp).
From Bern: Approximately 2.5 hours (via Spiez and Visp).

By car

By Car (to Täsch): If you are arriving by car, you can drive to Täsch, a small village just 5 km from Zermatt. From there, you’ll need to take a shuttle train (runs frequently) into Zermatt, as no vehicles are allowed in the village. Parking is available in Täsch, and the shuttle train ride to Zermatt takes about 12 minutes.
